About the MP3 encoder

MP3 files are made by LAME 3.100, compiled to WebAssembly and loaded as a separate file only when you save an MP3. It is licensed under the GNU LGPL: you may replace that file with your own build of LAME. Its source code and build notes are published on this site together with the release.

About the HEIC decoder

Where the browser can’t open HEIC photos itself, they are decoded by libheif with libde265, compiled to WebAssembly by the libheif-js project. Its two files are loaded unmodified and separately, only when you open a HEIC photo. They are licensed under the GNU LGPL 3.0: you may replace them with your own build of libheif. Their source code is published by the libheif and libheif-js projects.
