How it works

  1. Type or paste the numbersOne number, or a column from Excel or Google Sheets, one code per line.
  2. Choose the barcode typeEAN-13 for shops and marketplaces, Code 128 for letters, ITF-14 for boxes.
  3. DownloadPNG or SVG for a product card or packaging, or a PDF of labels 58×40, 58×30 or 43×25 mm.

Barcodes for a shop, a warehouse or Amazon and Etsy listings

A barcode is only useful if it scans on the first try. This barcode generator works out the check digit, flags a wrong number before you print, and sizes the bars to whole dots of a 203 dpi thermal printer, so the lines come out crisp.

Which type to choose

  • EAN-13: 13 digits, goods sold in shops in most of the world.
  • EAN-8: 8 digits, small packs with no room for a long code.
  • UPC-A: 12 digits, goods sold in the USA and Canada.
  • Code 128: Latin letters, digits and signs, up to 48 characters. Warehouse and box labels.
  • ITF-14: 14 digits, an outer box of identical goods.

The check digit, done for you

The last digit of EAN, UPC and ITF-14 is computed from the others. Type 12 digits for an EAN-13 and the thirteenth is added. Type all 13 and it is checked: a typo shows at once, together with the digit that should be there.

Create barcodes from an Excel list

Paste a column of numbers. Every line becomes a code; lines with mistakes are marked and left out. Add a product name after a tab or a semicolon and it goes on the label above the bars. Many PNG or SVG files arrive as one ZIP, and all the labels as one PDF.

Labels for a thermal printer or an A4 sheet

Pick 58×40, 58×30 or 43×25 mm and up to 500 copies of each code. Each label is a page of exactly that size: set the same size in the printer driver and it prints one label per page. No label printer? Choose A4: 18 labels of 58×40 mm fit on a sheet, 44 of the smallest size, with thin cut lines.

Where the number comes from

Numbers for goods sold in shops are issued by GS1 in your country. A marketplace may assign one in the seller account. For your own shelves and boxes any Code 128 will do.
