Change video speed online

Speed up a long lecture or slow down a jump, from a quarter speed to four times faster. The clip stays on your device and never reaches our server.

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and more · any video this device can play

How it works

  1. Choose a videoOpen an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV from your phone or computer.
  2. Pick the speedTap 0.5× to slow it down or 2× to speed it up, or type your own number.
  3. Save the videoEvery frame is written anew at the chosen speed.

How to speed up or slow down a video

To change video speed here you need no timeline and no keyframes: one number for the whole clip. The preview plays at the new rate right away, so you hear the result before saving, and the new length shows next to it. It is free, without an account, and we set no file-size limit.

Speeds from 0.25× to 4×

  • Slower: 0.25×, 0.5× and 0.75×.
  • Faster: 1.25×, 1.5×, 2×, 3× and 4×. The page opens at 2×.
  • Your speed: any number from 0.25 to 4, such as 1.75.
  • A 1:00 clip at 2× becomes 0:30; at 0.5× it becomes 2:00.

Speed up a video without the chipmunk voice

Keep voice natural is on by default: speech gets faster or slower, but its pitch stays the same. Turn it off for the tape effect, where voices go high when faster and low when slower. Without sound saves the clip silent, which suits a timelapse.

Make a slow motion video

Pick 0.5× to halve the motion or 0.25× for a very slow look. Each frame is held longer; no made-up frames are added in between. A clip filmed at 60 fps or more slows down more smoothly, so switch the phone camera to 60 fps or Slo-mo before filming a jump or a splash.

Which speed for what

  • Lectures and webinars: 1.25× or 1.5× saves time and keeps speech easy to follow.
  • Cooking and craft clips: 2× or 3× skips the slow parts.
  • Timelapse from a normal clip: 4×, usually without sound.
  • Sports, dancing and pets: 0.5× or 0.25× shows what the eye misses.

What you get

  • An MP4 by default (a MOV stays MOV); WebM can be chosen too.
  • The original frame rate, up to 60 fps, so playback stays even.
  • Saving takes longer than a plain copy, because every frame is encoded again.
  • A faster clip is a smaller file, roughly in proportion.
