HEIC to PNG, every pixel kept

Turn iPhone photos into PNG files that design apps, older editors and any Windows PC open. Nothing is compressed a second time.

JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, HEIC · up to 50 images at once

Your privacy comes first

Your contracts, passport scans and family videos stay yours. No one but you gets to see them.

  • We don’t store your files

We don’t save them on our server: not the contract, not the video, not the photo. What you open stays yours.

  • 100% free

No daily limits, no file-size cap, no paid Pro plan.

  • No sign-up

No account to create, no email to give. No account, nothing to hack.

How it works

  1. Choose the HEIC photosPress Choose images or drop up to 50 photos on the page. From reads the format from the files, so a stray JPG or WebP opens too and also becomes a PNG.
  2. Leave To at PNGFrom and To arrive set to HEIC and PNG. There is no quality to set: PNG keeps every pixel the iPhone recorded.
  3. Save the PNG filesOne photo downloads as a file, a batch as one ZIP, and each card shows the size before and after.

When an iPhone photo should become a PNG

An iPhone or iPad shoots HEIC by default. The files are compact, but plenty of software still can’t read them. Most people simply want a JPG. HEIC to PNG makes sense when the photo is headed for more work: retouching, layering, cutting out. A PNG adds no compression of its own on top of what the phone already did.

Who picks PNG over JPG

  • A designer placing a photo in Figma, Canva or an older Photoshop
  • Anyone about to remove the background, who wants a file that can hold transparency afterwards
  • A school portal or a stock site that asks for PNG by name
  • Anyone who edits and re-saves the same picture many times

How big the files get

In our test an 8.8-megapixel aerial photo, saved by macOS as a 951 KB HEIC, became a 10.1 MB PNG: eleven times bigger. The same HEIC as a JPG at High was 1.08 MB. A photo holds millions of slightly different pixels, and PNG writes each one down exactly. It is not sharper than the HEIC: whatever the phone’s compression smoothed away stays smoothed.

What carries over

  • The full picture at its original resolution, turned upright if the phone was held sideways
  • No date, camera model or location in a PNG. To keep them, switch To to JPG and turn on Keep photo details
  • From a Live Photo or a burst, only the main still: no motion, no extra frames
  • Your original HEIC stays as it was

When to leave PNG alone

  • Sending photos by email or in a messenger: a JPG is about a tenth of the size
  • Keeping a gallery sorted by day: PNG has no date inside
  • Freeing space on a drive: keep the HEIC originals, they are the smallest of the three

Which browsers can do it

Safari on a Mac, iPhone or iPad reads HEIC by itself. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox the page fetches a HEIC decoder of about 1.5 MB from this site when you add the first photo. The photos themselves are decoded on your device.
