Remove location and EXIF data from a photo

See what a photo says about you, then strip it: where it was taken, on which phone, and when. Your photos stay with you: we never receive them and nothing is stored on a server.

JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, HEIC · up to 50 images at once

Your privacy comes first

Your contracts, passport scans and family videos stay yours. No one but you gets to see them.

  • We never store your files

They don’t even reach us: your phone or computer does the work. Nothing to delete later.

  • 100% free

No daily limits, no file-size cap, no paid Pro plan.

  • No sign-up

No account to create, no email to give. No account, nothing to hack.

How it works

  1. Add photosPress Choose images or drop up to 50 photos on the page.
  2. See what’s insideThe panel lists the location, phone, dates and author found in the photo on screen, and how many photos carry a location.
  3. Clean and savePress Clean and save. One photo downloads as a file, a batch as one ZIP.

What a photo tells about you, and how to strip it

A phone writes a lot into every picture: the exact spot, the date and time, the phone model, sometimes your name. Send the file to a buyer or post it on a forum, and all of that travels with it. Remove metadata from photos first, and only the picture goes out.

What the panel finds

  • Location: GPS coordinates and altitude, enough to find your street on a map
  • Dates: when the photo was taken and last changed
  • Phone or camera: make, model, lens, sometimes the serial number
  • Author and captions: name, copyright, comments, IPTC and XMP blocks
  • Apps the photo went through, and a small hidden preview copy

The picture stays the same

JPG, PNG and WebP are cleaned byte by byte: the metadata blocks are cut out and the image is not saved again, so no pixel changes. Two things stay on purpose. The colour profile keeps colours as they were, and the orientation flag keeps a portrait photo from lying on its side.

HEIC and other formats

An iPhone HEIC is saved as JPG, which drops every detail but re-saves the image at high quality. AVIF is re-saved as AVIF. GIF and BMP become JPG, or PNG when they have transparent parts. The panel says which way each photo goes.

When to remove metadata from photos

  • You sell something online and took the photos at home
  • You send a photo as a file: by email or as a document in a chat, metadata goes along
  • You post on a blog or a forum that keeps uploads as they are
  • You hand photos of a flat to an agent: the coordinates show the address more precisely than the ad

Keep the date if you need it

The gear next to Save has Keep the date taken. Your gallery still sorts the picture by its day, and everything else goes.
