Add music to video

Put a song under your clip and hear the result before you save. Pick the chorus, set how loud the music plays, and the picture stays exactly as it is. Your files stay yours: we never receive or store them.

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and more · any video this device can play

How it works

  1. Choose a videoFrom your phone or computer, with its own sound or without.
  2. Choose a songAn MP3, M4A or WAV. Slide the frame to the best part.
  3. Save videoThe music ends with the video. Saving takes seconds.

How to add music to video

A holiday clip, a phone slideshow or a short for social media sounds better with a tune under it. The sound is mixed on your device and the picture isn’t encoded again, so even a long video is ready in seconds.

Choose the part of the song

  • The song is drawn as a waveform, with a frame exactly as long as your video.
  • Slide the frame to the chorus, or tap where the music should begin.
  • Press Play: picture and music run together, as they will be saved.

Background music under the video’s own sound

Two sliders set the levels: Video sound and Music. When the clip has sound of its own, the music starts at 40 %, quietly under the voices. Turn it up for a montage, or set Video sound to Off to hear only the song. A soft limiter keeps the mix from crackling when both are loud.

Fades and song length

  • The music fades out over the last two seconds by default. Fade in is one tick away in Settings.
  • A song shorter than the video starts again, with no click at the joint. Untick Repeat a short song, and after it only the video’s sound is left.
  • A song longer than the video stops where the video ends.

Formats and quality

  • The picture keeps its quality, because it is copied, not encoded again.
  • MP4 stays MP4. WebM gets its sound as Opus.
  • The song can be MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG, or the sound of another video.
  • The new file gets “-music” at the end of its name.

Before you post

Songs you didn’t make may be protected by copyright, and some sites mute such videos. Royalty-free music or your own recordings are the safe choice. For a reel made of several clips, merge them first, then lay one track over the whole thing.
