Compress PDF files

Compress PDF files so a scan or a photo-heavy report fits an email or an upload form. The file stays yours: we never receive it or keep a copy.

One PDF file, any size

Your privacy comes first

Your contracts, passport scans and family videos stay yours. No one but you gets to see them.

  • We never store your files

They don’t even reach us: your phone or computer does the work. Nothing to delete later.

  • 100% free

No daily limits, no file-size cap, no paid Pro plan.

  • No sign-up

No account to create, no email to give. No account, nothing to hack.

How it works

  1. Open the PDFChoose the file that is too big, from your phone or computer.
  2. Pick a levelLight, Recommended or Strong. The tool shows how much of the file is pictures.
  3. Save the smaller copyCompare the size before and after, then save.

How much smaller can a PDF get?

It depends on what is inside. In a heavy PDF almost all the weight is pictures: scanned pages and photos. To reduce PDF size, the tool shrinks those pictures and leaves text, fonts and drawings alone.

What changes and what stays

Each picture is scaled down to the resolution of the level you pick and saved again as JPEG. Text, fonts and vector drawings (lines, charts, logos) are not touched, so you can still select, search and copy the text.

Three levels

  • Light: pictures at 200 dpi. Best for documents you will print.
  • Recommended: 150 dpi. Sharp on a screen and noticeably smaller; right for most files.
  • Strong: 100 dpi. The smallest file that still keeps real text; fine for reading on a screen.

Can you reduce PDF size without losing quality?

Text and drawings lose nothing at any level. Photos and scans lose fine detail, and you see it only when you zoom in close or print large. If the file has to stay print-ready, use Light.

When it hardly shrinks

  • A PDF that is mostly text is already small, and the tool tells you so before you save.
  • Pictures that are already small and light stay about the same.
  • If the result would not be smaller, you get your original back, unchanged.

Pages as images: the last resort

If the file still won’t fit, turn on Pages as images. Every page becomes one picture, which gives the smallest result. The price: the text can no longer be selected, searched or copied. Use it for documents that only need to be read or printed.

Long scans and limits

The tool works on one picture at a time instead of the whole document at once, so a long scan shrinks on a phone too. It just takes longer. We set no file-size cap and no daily limit.
