Convert PDF to PNG with crisp text

Turn PDF pages into PNG images that keep every letter and line exactly as drawn. Take the whole file or just page 4. The document stays with you; we never receive it.

One PDF file, any size

Your privacy comes first

Your contracts, passport scans and family videos stay yours. No one but you gets to see them.

  • We never store your files

They don’t even reach us: your phone or computer does the work. Nothing to delete later.

  • 100% free

No daily limits, no file-size cap, no paid Pro plan.

  • No sign-up

No account to create, no email to give. No account, nothing to hack.

How it works

  1. Choose the PDFOpen it from your computer or phone. The output is already set to PNG.
  2. Pick quality and pagesNormal for screens, High for print. Keep all pages, tap some, or type numbers like 1-3, 5.
  3. Save the imagesOne page saves as a single PNG. Several arrive in one ZIP, numbered in page order.

When a PNG beats a JPG for PDF pages

A page image ends up in many places: a slide deck, a wiki, a design mock-up, a bug report, a chat with a colleague who can't open attachments. PNG stores the drawn page without loss, so text edges stay clean and the image doesn't get worse each time it is edited and saved again.

What we measured

To see what PDF to PNG costs in size, we drew an A4 page of dense documentation text at Normal quality: 1241 × 1756 pixels. As a PNG it weighed 499 KB; the same page as a JPG at our usual setting was 385 KB, about 30% lighter. At High quality (300 dpi) it was 1.08 MB against 0.99 MB. For pages of text and diagrams the gap is small. A page that is a full-bleed photo or a scan grows many times larger as a PNG, and JPG is the better pick there.

Choosing between Normal and High

  • Normal, 150 dpi: about 1240 × 1754 pixels for A4. Right for slides, web pages and reading on a screen.
  • High, 300 dpi: about 2480 × 3508 pixels for A4. Right for printing at full size or zooming into footnotes.
  • Posters and large drawings are scaled down to stay within 16.7 megapixels and 8192 pixels a side, the most every browser can draw.

What a PNG of the page will not have

  • Transparency: the page is drawn on white, as it looks in a PDF reader.
  • Selectable text and links: the image is pixels only.
  • The original photos inside the PDF at their own size: you get the whole page as one picture.

When to keep the PDF instead

Sending a contract or a 40-page report? Leave it as a PDF: it stays searchable, prints at any size and is often much smaller than forty images. If you only need a few pages as a separate document, extract them into a new PDF rather than turning them into pictures.

Password-protected files

A PDF that asks for a password to open must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF, using the password you know. Files that only forbid printing or copying convert as usual.
