Convert JPG to PNG

Get a PNG copy of a JPEG photo or picture when a site or an app takes only PNG. Every save after this one keeps each pixel exactly, and your photos stay on your device the whole time.

Your privacy comes first

Your contracts, passport scans and family videos stay yours. No one but you gets to see them.

  • We never store your files

They don’t even reach us: your phone or computer does the work. Nothing to delete later.

  • 100% free

No daily limits, no file-size cap, no paid Pro plan.

  • No sign-up

No account to create, no email to give. No account, nothing to hack.

How it works

  1. Choose JPG photosPress Choose images or drop up to 50 files ending in .jpg or .jpeg.
  2. Nothing to setThe side panel says Saved as PNG. There is no quality to pick: PNG keeps every pixel.
  3. Save the PNG filesOne image downloads on its own, several come as one ZIP, with the size before and after.

What a PNG copy of a JPG gives you, and what it doesn’t

Phones, cameras and most of the web hand you JPG. Sometimes the next step wants PNG: a sticker maker, an app or game icon slot, a print service, or an editor you will save from again and again. Converting JPG to PNG doesn’t change how the picture looks. It changes how the file behaves from now on.

Why the file gets so big

JPG throws away detail the eye barely notices and packs the rest tightly. PNG has to store every pixel exactly, including the faint noise JPG left behind. In our test a 909 KB JPG of an 8.8-megapixel aerial photo became a 9.8 MB PNG, eleven times larger. A 3.3 MB high-quality JPG of the same photo came to 11 MB. On screen all of them look the same.

When PNG is the right call

  • The site, form or app accepts only PNG
  • You will edit and re-save the picture several times: PNG adds no new blur, JPG does
  • You are adding text, arrows or a logo and want crisp edges around them
  • An icon, texture or pixel-art tool expects PNG input

When not to convert

  • To make a photo sharper. What JPG compression removed is gone; PNG only freezes it as it is.
  • To get a transparent background. A JPG has none, so the PNG keeps the white or coloured background it had.
  • To send or upload a photo. It gets heavier and slower, and JPG already opens everywhere.
  • To save space. For that, compress the JPG or turn it into WebP.

What you get

  • A .png with the same name, such as IMG_2041.png.
  • The same width, height and colours.
  • A photo taken sideways saved upright; camera details and GPS location are not copied.
  • No size cap from us. Very large pictures take longer, and a phone may run out of memory on them.
