Convert PNG to JPG

Your PNG files stay yours: they are converted on this device and never sent to us. You get JPEG copies that any form, print shop or phone accepts, with the see-through parts filled in a colour you pick.

PNG files only · other formats open in “Image converter”

Your privacy comes first

Your contracts, passport scans and family videos stay yours. No one but you gets to see them.

  • We never store your files

They don’t even reach us: your phone or computer does the work. Nothing to delete later.

  • 100% free

No daily limits, no file-size cap, no paid Pro plan.

  • No sign-up

No account to create, no email to give. No account, nothing to hack.

How it works

  1. Choose PNG imagesPress Choose images or drop up to 50 PNG files. A file in another format is sent to the Image converter.
  2. Pick the backgroundWhite is set for transparent parts; switch to Black or Another colour. The gear next to Save sets the quality.
  3. Save the JPGPress Save image, or Save N images to get one ZIP. Each card shows the size before and after.

When the switch from PNG to JPG pays off

PNG is what screenshots, logos and design exports come out as: the Windows Snipping Tool, Cmd-Shift-4 on a Mac, an iPhone screenshot, Figma or Canva. It keeps every pixel, which makes photos heavy. Many forms, marketplaces and print shops want JPEG instead, and a photo shrinks a lot on the way from PNG to JPG.

What happens to the file size

It depends on what is in the picture. In our test an 8.8-megapixel aerial photo saved as PNG weighed 7.6 MB; as a JPG at High it came to 1.1 MB, about a seventh. A 2880×1800 Retina screenshot of a documentation page went the other way: 821 KB as PNG, 1000 KB as JPG. Sharp text and flat colour are what PNG packs well and JPG struggles with.

What happens to transparency

A JPG has no see-through pixels. Every clear corner and soft shadow is painted with the background you pick: white by default, black, or the colour of the page where the picture will sit. Our 1024×1024 app logo with clear corners came out with white corners and grew from 25 KB to 37 KB.

Choose JPG when

  • It is a photo, or a picture that looks like one
  • A form, a shop listing or a printer takes only JPG
  • You are sending many pictures by email and they are too heavy
  • The background is solid anyway, so nothing is lost

Keep PNG when

  • It is a screenshot of text, a chart or an app screen: it stays sharper and often smaller
  • A logo or sticker has to sit on any background without a box around it
  • You will keep editing the file: every JPG save blurs it a little more

Quality and the small print

  • High (90) is the starting point; the gear also offers Best, Good and Smaller file.
  • JPG compression shows as faint haze around sharp edges and small text. On photos it is hard to spot.
  • Text or camera data stored inside the PNG is not copied.
  • We set no size cap. Very large images take longer, and a phone may run out of memory on them.
